In reaction to the new US sanctions against Russia, President Putin expels 755 US diplomats and staff from Russia. Also, Russia will confiscate two diplomatic estates in Moscow; a response to an Obama administration decision to take two Russian buildings. After this huge reduction in American staff, exact number of 455 personnel remain in Russia, that is, the same number as the Russian staff in US. “The American side has made a move which, it is important to note, hasn’t been provoked by anything, to worsen Russian-US relations” said Putin. The US – Russian relations have been inconsistent over the last month. Trump had high hopes for the future of the two countries when he met briefly with President Putin at the G-20 summit meeting in Hamburg, Germany. Moscow, also, stated that the two presidents had taken a step forward for a better relation. Soon after the G-20 summit was over, Donald Trump decided that Russia must stop its destabilizing activities in the middle east, hence passed the fresh sanctions against Russia. Deported US staff is expected to leave September 1st.
